strength, weakness, and knowing oneself

Just as a chain is only as strong as its weakest link–

we are only as light as we are dark,

we are only as courageous as we are scared,

we are only as grounded as we are scattered,

we are only as loving as we are unloving,

we are only as happy as were unhappy,

we are only as confident as we are unsure of ourselves,

we are only as whole as we are split within,

we are only as strong as we are weak.

Therefore,

if we endeavor to be greater light we must know where we are dark,

if we endeavor to be courageous we must know where we are scared,

if we endeavor to be grounded we must know where we are scattered,

if we endeavor to be loving we must know where we are unloving,

if we endeavor to be happy we must know where we are unhappy,

if we endeavor to be confident we must know where we are unsure of ourselves,

if we endeavor to be whole we must know where we are split within,

if we endeavor to be strong we must know where we are weak.

That’s why it’s said: “Man, know thyself“, and

that’s why it’s said “Knowing others is wisdom, knowing self is enlightenment“.
