Our latest video continues with foundation-level self-massage techniques focusing on the extensor compartment of the forearm. In acupuncture theory this correlates with the Large Intestine, Triple Burner, and Small Intestine channels. Regardless of name, the muscles, tendons, and related structures in these information pathways connect with the outer elbow; persistent tension holding patterns here favor inflammation, pain, and loss of function–one commonly diagnosed condition affecting this area is lateral epicondylitis, or tennis elbow. Easy to practice, self-massage helps reduce the risk of developing certain pain conditions by promoting oxygen-rich blood flow to and releasing tension in muscles.
